Record
Comments:
This record includes the story of
Ebenezer Scrooge in narration and song with sound effects. There are no tracks on the vinyl and both sides play all the way through without breaks. This
is one of the rare times that a record album came before an
animated film. This time, the record inspired the 1983
featurette Mickey’s Christmas Carol which appeared in theaters
eight years after the vinyl release.
This
Disney character re-telling of Dicken’s classic tale includes
the first performance of Alan Young as Scrooge, along with a
voice cast billed as The Walt Disney Players. The production
features original songs, written specifically for the record
along with a delightfully illustrated storybook.
The
story telling includes one of the most impressive reunions of
Disney characters from past productions.
• Disney
pals Mickey, Minnie, Morty, Donald, Daisy, Scrooge McDuck and
Goofy
• J.
Worthington Foulfellow and Gideon (The fox and cat from Pinocchio)
• The
Wizard (from the Disneyland Records' "Oz" themed
albums)
• Willie
The Giant (from Fun and Fancy Free's Mickey and The Beanstalk)
• Merlin
(from The Sword in The Stone)
• And
The Wicked Queen as The Witch (from Snow White and The Seven
Dwarfs)
All characters are portrayed by Alan Young,
Clarence Nash, Alan Dinehart, Walker Edmiston and Janet Waldo. Collector's
beware of variations in label may affect the contents of story
telling and sound. The most desirable issue is the purple
label edition. However, there are also red and yellow
rainbow editions as well. Matrix

Subject Notes:
Mickey's
Christmas Carol is an animated featurette that premiered in theaters
during December of 1983. It was nominated for an Academy Award for
Best Short Film and began an annual TV airing in 1984.
The
production is based
on the Charles Dickens' well-known Christmas story, retold with Uncle
Scrooge as Ebenezer Scrooge and a full cast of Disney characters from a
variety of pre-existing productions. The idea for the film was
inspired by the 1975 Disneyland Record #3811
An Adaptation Of Dickens' Christmas Carol.
