Record Comments: This special-issue book and record set with its
unique catalog number was created as a companion piece to the
National Parks. It was most likely produced as a promotional
item or special mail-order purchase. A
message on the inside cover from Walt Disney Music Company
states that they hope the book and record set will stimulate
interest, imagination, or a memory that will promote visits to
the parks and sites to see firsthand the beauty they behold. This
mini-album was produced in the same format of the SEE HEAR and
READ series, but the content is not a story teller. The
record includes five songs about America, starting with Stan
Jones narration and Grand Canyon song that was originally
featured on the 1958 album, WDL-1005
Walt Disney Presents Songs Of The National Parks. The
remaining four songs were originally featured on the 1961 album,
DQ-1217
Songs Of Our Heritage For Young Americans. The
special book that houses the record includes 24 numbered pages
with illustrations and facts on twenty-five National and
Historical Parks. Some
books include an "Addendum" card enclosed at page 20
that notes a correction for the death count at Gettysburg.
