Record Comments: This record was issued with a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2, 16-page booklet The Life and Times of a Shaggy Dog. The book includes several black and white photos from the movie with liners notes from Sam, The Shaggy Dog.

The vinyl does not include track marks for the songs. The entire album plays as a continuous program with narration by The Shaggy Dog between each song. This record was also issued with a red label.

The Disney Cast for the album includes Fred MacMurray, Roberta Shore, Kevin Corcoran, The Toy Poodles, Four Dachshunds, The Hound Dogs and Paul Frees as Sam, The Shaggy Dog. This was Paul Frees debut to Disneyland Records.

Subject Notes: The Shaggy Dog is a Disney live-action feature and premiered in theaters during March of 1959. The running time is approximately 104 minutes. The story is loosely based on the novel The House of Florence by Felix Salten, best known for his story of Bambi.

The Shaggy Dog adventures continued on in several other Disney adventures. In 1976, Disney produced the sequel, The Shaggy D.A. It was followed by a 1987 television sequel, a 1994 television remake and a 2006 live-action theatrical remake.
