Record Comments: This soundtrack
recording was released in conjunction with the 1956 re-release of the
original 1946 film. It's the first in the WDL-4000 series and one of
the first albums produced for the Disneyland Records label. Under supervision and editing control of Tutti
Camarata, the record includes the popular songs from the film as well as
the score. The track listing as noted on the back cover may be a bit
confusing as some covers list twelve songs but the vinyl only contains
eight tracks, while the mixture of score and song tracks total up to
thirteen. The record contents listed below show the actual
contents with approximate time values that are included within the eight tracks
of the record. The
record was issued a number of times and includes some variations that are
mainly seen on the record label. Record label variations include
yellow with stars (with and without Hansen Records at the top,) red and purple labels.
The yellow stars label
with the Hansen Records, Inc at the top was
the original release and includes "East Coast" credits for
Hansen Records, Inc. on the back cover. Hansen Records was managing Disney
educational records at the time. Only a small amount of records were
produced with the yellow stars label for this release along with a few
other titles.
Other back-cover variations include
different credits and border design for the song credits in the lower left
corner. A Canadian issue was also released on the Spartan Records
label.
The various artists
included on this record are James Baskett, Hall Johnson Choir, Hattie McDaniel, Johnny Lee,
Nicodemus Stewart and Studio Choir. Matrix
