Record Comments: Best known to
Disney fans as the voice of Jiminy Cricket, Cliff Edwards shares some of
his 1920s hits on this album from a time when Cliff was better
known as Ukulele Ike. Cliff is backed by a 6-piece,
Dixieland Group officially dubbed The Wonderland Jazz Band
under the direction of George Burns who is also credited to numerous Disney
scores and hits such as The Ballad Of Davy Crockett. This
record was issued three times in the United States. The first issue
contains the title Ukulele Ike Sings Again in 1956 with
catalog number WDL-3003 on the Disneyland label. The same catalog
number was used for the second edition that contained a new cover and
title, 16 Top Tunes Of The Twenties. A third issue was
released in 1968 with the title Ukulele Ike Happens Again with
catalog number BV-4043 on the Buena Vista Records label. Matrix

Cliff Edwards was
born on June 14, 1895 in Hannibal, Missouri and died on July 17, 1971 in
Los Angeles, California. To Disney fans, Cliff is best known as the
voice of Jiminy Cricket who swooned the number one hit When You Wish
Upon A Star among countless other Disney tunes and narration.
The Wonderland Jazz Band is led by George Bruns who also plays trombone
and tuba in the band. Band regulars include George Probert on clarinet,
Don Kinch on trumpet, Nick Fatool on drums, Jess Bourgeois on bass, Marvin
Ash on piano, Luther "Red" Rountree and Ray Leatherwood on bass.
