Record
Comments:
This special preview album is a souvenir
of the Press Preview Grand Opening that was held on June 30,
1974 at Disneyland in Anaheim, California. The record is
enclosed in a standard jacket with no book pages. It's one
of three promotional records in the Wonderland Music Company catalog series, that includes The
Music Of Mary Poppins on #WOND-1, Bedknobs And
Broomsticks on #WOND-2 and America Sings on #WOND-3.The
contents of this record are slightly different than the
commercial release. At about 7
minutes and 20 seconds in on America Sings, the song Who Shot
The Hole In My Sombrero has some lyric changes.
"Was it Poncho from the Rancho? Did he do this
because I kiss his wife?" was changed to "I can't
figure who'd pull that trigger. You don't reckoned my old
wife could be back in town?" Both versions are sung
by Rex Allen in different character voices. The full song can be
found on Rex Allen Sings 16 Favorite Songs, #BV-3307.

Subject
Notes: America Sings is a Disney
Theme Park attraction that first opened in June of 1974 at Disneyland in Anaheim, California.
The attraction was housed in the rotating Carousel Theater, replacing The Carousel of Progress that moved to
The Magic Kingdom in Florida.
The show was hosted by Burl Ives as Sam the Eagle and traveled through American history in song with
animal animatronics. The attraction closed in 1988, but some of the artifacts are now part of Splash Mountain.
