Record
Comments: This premium
record was available by mail order only in the UK from margarine
manufacturers Summer County. After mailing eight margarine package
cut-outs to the company, fans of Mary Poppins could
receive the single shown here featuring two songs
from the film. The
songs are not performed by the stars of the movie. They are
cover tracks by Billy Cotton and His Band with Kathie Kay, Alan
Breeze, Rita Williams and The Bandits. The
record sleeve has two-color graphics of Summer
County and Mary Poppins logos on the front, while the back is
plain. Also
included in some mailers was a flyer for a Peter Pan record that
was also available by mail order from Summer County on catalog #DIS
2. The
UK record promotions started in 1965 and include catalog numbers
DIS 1 through DIS 9 with a later one, DIS 15 in 1977, shown in
the following list.
